A terrible way to die

News broke late yesterday of an Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon to Dublin being grounded in Cork due to an incident on board.

This morning, PJ spoke to John Leonard, who was a passenger on the flight. John spoke eloquently of the fear and terror of the young man who died in such a horrible way and of the other passengers confronted with this.

People are quite naturally expressing horror and sympathy at what happened, for the man himself, his own loved ones and for the other passengers on board the flight. Over the next 24 hours as the post-mortem results come back, I think this story will take a different direction. If, as mounting speculation has it, the man who died was a drugs mule, will the sympathy dissipate?
